After being gluten-free and grain-free for over 10 years, I have tried my fair share of grain free bread that didn’t live up to the hype. All of them touted that they were the perfect replacement for “regular” bread, but each always ended up being a disappointment – too dry, too dense, indistinguishable from cardboard. You get the idea. So, when given the opportunity to try out the Everyday Bread from AWG Bakery, my expectations for a positive experience weren’t set very high. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

AWG Bakery bread available in a 6-inch round that weighs roughly a pound and gives you about 12 slices, depending on how thick you slice it. A deliciously pleasant blend of organic, real food ingredients like arrowroot, almond, coconut and psyllium husk powders, black chia seeds, maple syrup and olive oil, each slicce provides 4g of fiber and just 8g net carbs (with less than a gram of sugar). If you can’t do eggs, don’t worry, it doesn’t contain any. Not only does this make it ideal for folks with a more vegan lean, it lends a much better texture and taste to the bread – no overpowering “eggy” taste or texture you find in a lot of other grain-free breads here.

While the Everyday Bread has an outstanding texture and “feel” to it on its own (similar to a good sourdough), like most grain-free breads, it is better toasted. When very lightly toasted, I found it had a deliciously pleasant chew and crumb to it and was ideal for sandwiches, BLTs, dipping in olive oil and vinegar, even French toast. My kids enjoyed more than a couple PB&Js when “helping” with testing. Toasting longer transformed it into the perfect vehicle for ghee and honey at breakfast, avocado toast or bruschetta.

Further demonstrating the care and thoughtfulness that AWG puts into all aspects of their products, their packaging is 100% compostable. The bags are derived from sustainable wood pulp and made up of 90+% biomatter. They also don’t contain any BPAs or phthalates. This attention to detail, and the drive to ensure their products are not only healthy for customers, but also for the planet, shows what a forward thinking, pioneering company AWG Bakery is.

AWG’s products are delicious and produced with obvious care from start to finish. Their Everyday Bread is one of the best grain-free breads I’ve ever tried. Made with real, clean ingredients you can feel good about eating, I have no doubt it will be a hit with anyone – gluten-free or not.

The Local Dish

“So many people across the country have told me that our bread is life changing. Mothers are also saying how much their kids love it,” shares Hanna Lane, founder of AWG Bakery, a new handmade artisan bakery that makes gluten-free, grain-free, organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, and Paleo bread.

A few years ago, Hanna was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and autoimmune issues. She decided to put her energy into learning about the healing powers of anti-inflammatory foods and embracing a Paleo lifestyle.

She loves bread but was unable to find one that tasted good and met her dietary restrictions. With her background in nutrition and associations with health food startup companies, she wanted to create a new kind of bread using clean, organic ingredients.

After working on the recipe for over a year, Hanna created the Everyday Bread that can be enjoyed at every meal. She decided to test the market and, in March, started selling it through her Instagram @airwatergreens, a health and wellness account. The response was tremendous.

In June, Hanna partnered with a close relative, Noel Busby, to create AWG Bakery. Utilizing Noel’s background in sales, marketing, and graphic design, they launched the company’s offerings online. “We come from generations of entrepreneurs. I love that Hanna’s bread is meeting the needs of so many people,” enthuses Noel.

“I can’t believe how fast we’re growing. I’m so excited to share a bread that you will actually feel good about eating, has beneficial nutrients, and tastes fantastic. We’re also proud that our bags and labels are 100% compostable,” Hanna adds.

“We are so grateful for all the support and encouragement. It has been my dream to share my love of healthy living with the world. We hope you enjoy your delicious freedom,” Hanna commented.

AWG also offers a convenient, subscription-based Bread Club so that you’ll never be without your new, favorite bread! Learn more by visiting AWGBakery.com and Instagram @awgbakery.

4 Questions with Owner Hanna Lane

What inspired you to launch AWG Bakery?
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and autoimmune issues. I decided to put my energy into learning about the healing powers of anti-inflammatory foods and embracing a Paleo lifestyle. I loved bread and knew we had to part ways but it would not be for long! After a year of testing, I finally perfected this unique, organic grain-free bread that everyone can eat. I’m so excited to share my bread that you will actually feel good about eating, has beneficial nutrients, and tastes fantastic!

How were you able to perfect the recipe?
AWG Bakery makes organic gluten and grain-free bread that is vegan and paleo. Our bread is extremely unique and unlike any breads out there. When choosing our ingredients it was so important for us to have a high standard and choose organic.
